Handwritten draft of a telegram. Gordon explains his decision to defend only Khartoum. On the top of the second page in purple pencil: "Draft telegram in Gordon's handwritting, it appeared in Times as a telegram from Mr. Power early in 1884. This was found near the scene of Stewart's murder." The telegram was published in Times 22 March 1887, page 7 in a slightly revised form.
